Bu$hCo Yanks the Rug Out From Under McCain

In a followup to yesterday's post, we now learn that when Bu$hCo can't win the day in congress, they simply do away with the rules that the opposition used as the basis for their amendment. In other words, the Pentagon's rewritten the Army Field Manual on Intelligence Interrogation, the basis of the McCain amendment.

The NY Times reports:
The Army has approved a new, classified set of interrogation methods that may complicate negotiations over legislation proposed by Senator John McCain to bar cruel and inhumane treatment of detainees in American custody, military officials said Tuesday.

The techniques are included in a 10-page classified addendum to a new Army field manual that was forwarded this week to Stephen A. Cambone, the under secretary of defense for intelligence policy, for final approval, they said.
So, does anyone really believe that the Pentagon did this on their own? It's a slick little end run--transparent...but slick.

Guess I spoke too soon. Not only is the administration still in favor of torturing detainees, but now so is the Army, and if Bu$hCo can engineer that support in such a way that it will cause Sen. McCain maximum embarrassment, so much the better.

Thanks to Think Progress for the head's up.

Windspike at The Educational Whisper has done us the favor of transcribing Helen Thomas sticking it to Press Secretary McClellan over the exemption issue at today's White House press briefing. Great stuff.

Did you see today's follow up press conference by Scotty where Helen Thomas tries to nail the W, Rove and Co to the torture cross? It's a fun read and you can find it at my location or at the white house dot gov location. Here's a link to my post to those who are click averse:
Thanks for the link up. Blog on all.
My pleasure.

Ooo, the Bushbabble is getting extraordinary now, isn't it? Of course they have set such high (or low) standards for themselves that it's hard to top themselves other than going, "GOOGGOOOAAGGAAAAAGOOOGOODDOOGA!!"
