Kvatch Kvestions - The Wisdom of Attacking Iran

What makes us assume that an attack on Iran will be met with anything but even greater determination to acquire nuclear weapons? Or...If the Iranians had originally intended to enrich uranium only for nuclear power generation, wouldn't a US attack simply convince them that they must have nuclear weapons?

But really, the reason the W, Rove and Co would do such a thing would to try and steal this November's elections once again.

A new "october surprise" of that magnitude would not be beyond the stretch of imagination, now would it?
I agree with windspike - the "attack" on iran is all about the November midterms here. Not for the neocons like Feith and Perle. But for Rove and Cheney and Bush and Rummy and Rice, it's all about keeping the subpoena power away from the Democrats.
They do have a shit ton of oil.

I certainly do think that there is going to be an "October Surprise", but I don't think that it will be the attack on Iran. I've posited, and I stand by, my observation that an attack on Iran will cause Bush to drop in popularity, and if the attack is nuclear...Bu$hCo go down faster than one of Cheney's hunting partners.

So, what will the October Surprise consist of? An attack? An attack that miraculously is twarted at the last moment?

They do have a shit ton of oil.

That they do! And we'll see exactly none of it. Too hard to acquire. IMHO.
Like a dullard who watches a re-run and expects a different ending, Bush believes that if he moves against the Iranian WMD program, the people of Iran will rise up and throw off the shackles of their oppressors. They will shower a triumphant invading American army with rose petals and instantly convert to devotees of Jeffersonian democracy. Cake walk, remember?
Betty...yes indeed! And that very strategy worked so well when the Kowboy Koward tried it the first time. Almost as well as when Poppy tried it 12 years earlier. Sheeesh...
We have to nuke them there, so we won't nuke us here!!
Wisdom...right. Not a strong point of The Decider.
If not an attack on Iran, then what is the October Surprise? Bin Laden's body conveniently DNA tested after the election? Iraq pull-out?
Terrorist attack, miraculously twarted at the last moment.

Not a thing (well...ok...maybe a few things), but that's a different kvestion. :-)
I agree with you completely, Kvatch. but we are only commenting on what we think we know. What the heck is going on behind closed doors?

perhaps the Iran thing is to scare the Americans into voting for the fascists again.. but they misunderestimate the majority of American's who are on to their scheme. Bush's approval is at the freezing point.

Liz, thanks for stopping by.

The Republicans may think that they can use Iran in this fashion, but as I've said I believe that it will have the opposite effect--still some room for those polls to drop! :-)
I agree with you, I don't think there will be an attack on Iran until after the election. Right now, as it stands, Iran is following it's obligations to the NPT and the IAEA has found no sufficient cause to believe other wise, which makes the Bush administrations claims seem as spurious as their claims about Iraq.Of course, the ramping up of the propaganda will begin all through the election, and I have no idea what the zoctober surprise will be, but you can bet that's why Rove had his role reduced at the White House.
NOw, now. I have it on good authority that we will be welcomed as liberators and they will be throwing flowers petals on our path to Tehran.

(Where have I heard something like that before.)

And did Shrub say after that, "Andt diss vwill be my last territorial demand." Well maybe we could make one or two more exceptions for liberating Venezuela and Nigeria. And don't get the wrong impression that we would only be doing this for the oil.
