March Madness Squared

I'm not much of a team sports kind-o-frog. Though to the extent that I'll watch anything, it's usually basketball (or rugby...but that's for another post). Pro-ball? A bit, but for me college ball is where it's at--going all the way back to my days at University of Texas where women's basketball games were about all a non-Greek undergraduate could get tickets to...and the UT Women were good!

So it gives me no end of pride to observe that not one, but both of my Alma Matars are playing to get into the final four. UT--no surprise there--and George Mason, which never played in an NCAA tournament until this year.

I can't believe that I'm going to say this, but I hope George Mason makes it to the final four to play Texas...and beats 'em! :-)

Hook'em Horns!

Sorry. My dad used to teach at UT when I was a kid, so I'm blindly loyal to them--even though I don't like basketball or football.

Ah, screw it...Go George Mason!
RB, hey that's interesting. My father taught at UTEP for about 30 years. Who was your father, maybe I had him for a class.

K.
Two children of the intellectual elite on a liberal blog? My God, what are the chances!

My father cleaned toilets at Joe McCarthy Middle School and he was damned thankful to have that job! As the first member of my family to go to college, I had but two choices allowed me...Jesus-loving Lberty College or the super-duper Jesus-loving University of Florida. As much as I love and respect Jerry Falwell (praise him!) I chose the latter.

After all, Liberty sucks at basketball.

Go Gators!
Well, your Texas Turdblossoms are out, girls! And who the fuck is George Mason, anyway?
OUCH!
Ouch is right. In overtime no less, but hey I've still got George Mason--Looks like a community college on steroids, Neil; Second largest public university in Virginia.
YEY!!!!! I too am rooting for George Mason too...UCLA???
how about LSU???

( Gonzaga bit the dust....oooops...and Memphis too)Yup this has been the best Madness I have been able to wallow in 5 years...absolute heaven and all kinds of little Under Dogs popping their heads out...
KVATCH...see you were right George Mason definently doesn't look like a Community College playing Uconn...

Too true..
Playing UConn's
Quite a coup.

...but remember that I went there for Graduate School, so I know exactly what the campus looks like, which is what I was referring to anyway. :-)

Down nine last I looked...bummer.
I almost went there...wish I had...It is a great school...

Neil: George Mason WHO????? well, kiss my grits Honey- cause they ARE IN the Final 4.....

So Kvatch...WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW Now that was a great game- George Mason showed WHAT a Team really looks like...
And sooooo GREEN!

On to take on the Gator's. How is Rex going to justify not rooting form a team called the "PATRIOTS"!

:-)
Kvatch, you a rugby man? Me too man. Or I was until Fox Sports betrayed me and dropped Super 14 programming.

Murdoch has screwed me yet again.

But, my Gators are in the final four.

Indeed I am. Well...as much as one can be a rugby man in this country. In Babylon by the Bay, we have few bars that keep football (the real thing) and rugby on most of the time. Can't get it on cable myself.

As for the B'ball...the Gators? THE GATORS! Bah! They shall be smote by the greatest Cinderella story of all time, GMU's Patriots!
