Flag Burning Amendment

Senate Majority Leader Frist wants to trot out the old war horse of a Flag Burning Amendment, and at Blognonymous we say, "Hell yes!" Few things are more important than burning the flag, and if Bu$hCo stays in power much longer we'll have so many more reasons.

The right of Americans to burn their flag--as an expression of free speech, to provide light during blackouts so that little children can read their bibles, to heat their double-wides during oil embargos instead of using propane, and to provide a beacon for FEMA rescue helicopters during floods--shall not be abridged.

Thanks to Stacy at Cafe Politico for the inspiration.

They don't have more important things to worry about than burning the flag? Jeez..some folks have way too much time on their hands in the Capitol.
I think we need an amendment to ban those stupid lapel pin flags...
I liked Kvatch's investigation about those lapel pins- under "The Number Of Delay" in the sidebar I think it is...
I saw another one today where Delay had that little lapel pin. Must have been after he won his primary race, and there it was again, THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST! :-)
okay, yes flag burners are my, let me see, my number gazillionth concern.

What the hell? Well they already burned the constitution so what the hell, toss in a flag.

Are flag burners evil doers?
I think burning the flag is an important source of alternative energy, what are these guys thinking?!

Dude, you are so onto something there.

Recycled rags
Turned into flags
Keeping us warm
Cooking our food
Doin' no harm
Liftin our mood
Who could object,
Ban or deflect.
Must be an election year for the Republicans to dig out that old chestnut. Gets the mouthbreather vote every time.
So I'm thinkin', like, when's the last time anyone heard of someone burning the American flag in this country? Let's have a ban on eight-track tapes while were at it... and the word "groovey."

I have a couple of dogs that'll jump from a dead sleep to hyperactive fox hounds at the sound of dog food bag opening... That's what the flag burning amendment is to certain canis republicanis.
didn't hillary clinton support an amendment similar to this?
EPM, whenever someone brings up a flag burning amendment I just salivate. Don't know why either, but it happens. Maybe I had some kind of weird imprinting the first time I heard about it.
Ya, but Hillary is a Republican.
Bill Frist doesn't care about flag burning any more than we do. They're just trying to distract us from the 8 million more important issues.

Yeah, but you know...when in doubt, pander to the base. I'm expecting a revival of the the Federal Gay Marriage Ban any minute. Frist is nothing if not predictable.
