"And when everyone is super, no one will be."

It's done. Disney has bought Pixar Animation Studios in a all-stock deal worth $7.4B.

Wonder if the combined entity will be known as "Pisney" or perhaps "Dixar"?

I don't think I like this. I can't explain why, I just don't.
Isn't Pixar much more profitable? Why didn't they buy Disney?
I like "iDisney."

Look for Apple's new mp3 player, the "Mick-o" to have ears and only play "It's a Small World" on a continuous loop.
No, Rex, don't give them any ideas!

I wonder if this is going to have any effect on the Emeryville staff, aside from sweetening their options packages ... I mean, they won't make Pixar move, will they?
I work pretty close to Pixar, and the mood on the shuttle last night was positively giddy. Though, the Machiavellian in me says that I wouldn't mind if they had to abandon their headquarters for a move to LaLa land. Allow my employer to move in. Sweet!
I think their love/hate relationship had more to do with Michael Eisner being a stupid ass more than anything else. He's gone now.
Kvatch, do you work in Emeryville? I didn't realize you were Bay Area. (Um, guess I shoulda checked the profile.) My favorite thing about The Incredibles was all the Emeryville street names in the opening sequence.

Anyway, I have a bad feeling about this. If it's Disney throwing in the towel and acknowledging the artistic superiority of Pixar, great...if it's one of those spite takeovers where they wreck everything that made the target superior, not so great...
Eisner's gone?? YAY!!! No more Satan running Disney! Well, just not THAT Satan, anyway.

Yup. Work in Emeryville, live over in Sodom by the Sea. Didn't realize about the street names, but I definitely think that "Cars" is influenced by Fantasy Junction across from Pixar's complex.
If you watch the opening sequence carefully, you'll notice the street names on his car's positioning map are all from Emeryville: Powell, San Pablo, Adeline, Hollis, etc. (I noticed because I'm a geography/map freak.) It's a cool inside joke. Haven't seen Cars, but I'll keep that in mind.

Are you going to the Barbarian get-together tomorrow? It's at the 3300 Club, 29th & Mission. I'm going to try to check it out.
I've been contemplating selling my PIXAR shares now that not only were they in bed with the 300 pound mouse, they are the 300 pound mouse. But then I heard that Jobs was sticking around - and Catamul is going to head up the animation end of it. So, this whole thing could turn Disney back around in a huge way. And I don't think Jobs is going to let his large share of Disney founder.

Let's just hope they keep turning out original pics rather than regurgitating the old Disney formula.

P.S. I loved the names of the streets as well in the I's - I've driven those very roads on my way to Juan's Place for fajitas.

Sure, but isn't it on Saturday around 3:00p?
Well, it would be "Pixie", wouldn't it?
